Coaching pays off

December 05 2009 | Mens 5th XI vs Burton 6ths | 7-0 Win

Lichfield Men’s 5ths made the short trip to Burton to play their 6th team.

Lichfield carried on how they finished last weeks’ game with fast flowing hockey.

It took twenty minutes though before Lichfield turned all their attacking play into a goal scored by Sam Greenbank.

Lichfield second could have come straight out of the coaching manual.

A left hand sideline hit  in line with the Burton ‘D’ was transferred back to Goff Jackson in midfield who moved the ball to Josh Thatcher on the  right wing who struck a great first time pass into the goal area for Toby Lomas to score. Burton could only stand and admire a great goal.

Lichfield picked up the pace again in the second half scoring another 5 goals. Sam Greenbank scored two more to complete his hat trick, Toby Lomas scored his second

Jack Lomas and Harry Carpenter with a fierce short corner strike completed the scorers.

The 5ths with a very young team continue to prove they are becoming a real force in the North East 2 League.
