February 27 2010 | Ladies 1st XI vs Bourneville | 4-0 Win

Lichfield travelled to Bournville to face a team who pushed hard for victory in the first half of season meeting - Lichfield relinquishing a 3 goal lead to share the spoils 3-3.

On the back of a couple of defeats and an ebb in confidence Lichfield fired out of the blocks, pressing hard from the opening whistle. Within 10 minutes the precise and well practised short corner routines produced the opener as Menmuir struck cleanly, a strike that saw the keeper dive over the top of the ball.

Bournville worked hard and moved ball across the pitch attempting to find a precise through ball that would find one of their 'roaming' forwards - White, Gleeson and Turner found this a challenge and Bournville had a couple of early chances - a triple save by Lowe and last ditch defending prevented them levelling things up.

Lichfield began to stamp their strength on the game and Rodgers tidied up neatly after another well worked short corner routine - reacting quicker than Bournville did. 2-0 entering the half time break.

With ghosts of the previous encounter and knowing that a full 70 minute performance was needed Lichfield came out guns blazing 2nd half.

Menmuir collected a brace as she produced another sublime short corner strike - discussion was help between the umpires as the ball had travelled off the ground but hit the bottom of the backboard - correct decision- goal given.

The 4th goal came as Milward played pinball flipper as the ball deflected around the D - finally being pushed in by Milward.

Lichfield produced a gritty, determined and passionate team performance - a great foundation for a double header weekend - facing Nottingham Uni (12.30) on Saturday and Telford (1.30) on sunday.
