Brushing away the cobwebs

September 04 2010 | Ladies 2nd XI vs Burton | 2-0 Win

First game back after the summer break saw a much changed Lichfield side.  This didnt trouble the team as they quickly gelled together and started to play some flowing hockey.

The defence were called into action early on but were more than capable of dealing with any threat that Burton posed.  Lichfield were then able to turn the defence into attack, and some lovely passing play allowed Nicky Mills to dance through the defence and calmy slot home the first goal of the game.

In the second half, Burton continued to threaten the Lichfield goal, but Lichfields defence stood strong and thwarted any attack that Burton had to offer.

Late on in the scond half Jo Wilcox was found with acres of space in the attacking D and calmy scored Lichfields second goal, making up for a rather glaring miss earlier in the game.

The game finished 2 - 0 to Lichfield and the seconds now look to build on this next week in preparation for the start of the new league season.
